Description

Welcome to O'Keefe Wildlife Management Area (WMA).  O'Keefe WMA is an island of bottomland hardwood forest rising from a sea of soybeans, corn, and rice in the Northwest Delta of Mississippi.    This 5,914 acre WMA located south of Lambert in Quitman County, represents one of the few remaining contiguous tracts of timber in the Mississippi delta.  The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks purchased the land from the Mississippi Department of Corrections in 2001, and the area has since provided enjoyment to hunters and homes for game and non-game species of wildlife.  O'Keefe WMA is intensively managed for waterfowl.  Sportsmen and women can choose to hunt 600 acres of flooded fields or flooded timber in the greentree reservoir.  In addition to waterfowl, deer and gray squirrel hunting are also popular.  Migratory songbirds and waterbirds are also seasonally abundant on O'Keefe WMA.  Come see us.
