National Sustainable Agriculture Information Service Updated:03/2021

ATTRA is a national sustainable agriculture technical assistance and information service. We are a program of the non-profit National Center for Appropriate Technology, which champions small-scale, local, and sustainable solutions to reduce poverty, promote healthy communities, and protect natural resources. By providing information and research services about sustainable agriculture and farm energy, the ATTRA program helps people reduce the environmental impact of farming. Funded through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, ATTRA serves many thousands of farmers, ranchers, educators, extension agents, business people, and others involved in sustainable agriculture. It provides technical assistance and access to resources through free publications, a toll-free telephone service, research, and workshops. Annually, millions of users visit our website, www.attra.ncat.org, to read or download the more than 300 free ATTRA publications or browse our databases that include links to critical resources, including sources for organic seed and fertilizers and lists of local food outlets in your area.
Our sustainable agriculture information service is just one of many programs managed by the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT). Since 1976, in partnership with businesses, like-minded organizations, involved individuals, and agricultural producers, NCAT has been advancing solutions that will ensure the next generation inherits a world that has clean air and water, efficiently-produced renewable energy, and healthy, sustainably-grown foods.

With headquarters in Butte, Montana, NCAT has regional offices in Arkansas, California, Iowa, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, and Texas..
